In this exclusive house tour, Alex Lee visits design technologist Suffian Shahabuddin's own home to uncover how an ordinary terrace house was transformed into a modern tropical sanctuary through thoughtful architecture instead of extra square footage. From its striking double-skin brick façade and naturally cooler interiors to layered lighting, floating details and carefully framed views, every design decision serves a purpose.

Designed by the design technologist, Suffian Shahabuddin from 6IX Design Office for his own family, this home explores how a terrace house renovation in Malaysia can feel open, breathable, and modern, without increasing its physical footprint. At the heart of the design is a reintroduced and expanded lightwell, transforming the once dark and compartmentalised interior into a light-filled, courtyard-like home.
